Rear Admiral John C. "Jack" Scorby, Jr. U.S. Navy (ret) will be the guest speaker.
Rear Admiral (ret) Jack Scorby is originally from the Chicago suburb of Naperville, IL, but grew up in Manlius, N.Y. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1981. He entered the Navy as an aviation officer candidate and received his commission in 1983 and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in 1984.
Scorby also holds a Master of Science degree in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the College of Command and Staff, U.S. Naval War College where he graduated with distinction; and a Master of Arts degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces where he graduated with distinction.
Scorby’s operational assignments included two tours each with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two (VQ 2) located in Rota, Spain and Patrol Squadron Special Projects Unit One (VPU 1) located in Brunswick, Maine. Scorby ultimately served as the Officer in Charge of VPU-1 and Commanding Officer of VQ-2.
Scorby’s shore and staff assignments include Bureau of Naval Personnel/PERS-43 where he served as the VQ/Force Support detailer; North American Aerospace Defense Command where he served as a Missile Operations Officer, Chief of the Aerospace Warning Branch, and Executive Assistant to the NORAD Director of Operations; Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV/N13) where he served as the Aviation Officer Community Manager and Deputy, Officer Plans and Policy; Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV/N88) where he served as the EP-3E Requirements Officer and Executive Assistant to the Director; Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations and Environment) where he served as the Executive Assistant. Scorby also served as the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Jacksonville.
Scorby's Flag assignments included Commander, Navy Region Southeast located in Jacksonville, FL; Commander, Navy Region Europe, Africa and Southwest located in Naples, Italy; and Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic located in Norfolk, VA. Scorby retired from the Navy in July 2018 and now resides with his wife Chris in Orange Park, FL.
Scorby has received a number of personal awards to include the Distinguished Service Medal but is most proud of his unit awards because of the teamwork they represent.
