Heather Huffman, MS, RDN, LD/N, IBCLC, was appointed as Administrator of the Florida Department of Health in Clay County in November 2015. Prior to assuming the leadership role in Clay County, she served as the Director of WIC Services and Community Health Education in Nassau County.

Mrs. Huffman is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian in the State of Florida.  She began her career in 2000 as a consultant dietitian in long term facilities.  She also worked PRN as a Clinical Dietitian in a large acute care facility.  In 2007, she became an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with the International Board of Lactation Examiners, recently passing the required testing and recertification every 10 years in 2017. 

She began her career with Florida Department of Health 2002 as the Obesity Prevention Program Manager in Duval County.  In 2004, she transitioned to Nassau County as the WIC Coordinator. Her roles expanded over the 12-year tenure from WIC Coordinator of 4 WIC clinics to serving as one of the Public Information Officers and taking on the role of coordinating Community Health Education. 

Mrs. Huffman has earned a Master of Science degree in Health from the University of North Florida in 1999 and a graduate certificate in Public Health Management from the University of South Florida in 2013. She also is a graduate of the National WIC Association Leadership Academy and a graduate of the Public Health Leadership Institute of Florida.
