Description

Bob Wood, Director of Development for Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association, Inc. / Jacksonville Naval Museum, and Jane Arnold, President of the Colonial Dames, will be share about the National Oral History Project and the Colonial Dames. They will discuss the project as it relates with the USS Orleck in Downtown Jacksonville, and the community to be able to preserve the oral histories of our SR Veterans. These histories will be videotaped and put on the USS Orleck as part of the Naval Museum and be sent to the National Archives Museum in Washington DC.

About Bob Wood

Dr. Robert Wood is the President and CEO of Florida Logistics Solutions (FLS). He  works with companies and nonprofit organizations in fundraising, event planning and grant writing. His team specializes on getting grants for companies that want to train incumbent workers, getting grants for nonprofit organizations, fund raising, development, strategic planning, and curriculum development. He is well known in the logistics consulting arena, having implemented several Lean Six Sigma initiatives as well as sales plans for many logistics and manufacturing companies in the US. He was granted several years ago by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (ASTL) the Distinguished Logistics Professional designation. (DLP). He currently serves on the board for R&R Logistics based in Jacksonville, FL.

He has written more than 600 grants in his career totaling $18 million in funding. He also has served as an evaluator on more than 20 grants. He created evaluation and scoring criteria for state, local and federal grants. Most recently has served as the evaluator for the Florida Veterans Foundation for a Grant they received from the RRF Foundation for Aging “Helping Senior Veterans Get all the Benefits They Deserve and Live Independently. He also recently has worked with the National Association of Women Judges on three SJI grants serving as the evaluator for NAWJ.

Previously, Dr. Wood served as the Dean of Continuing Education a position he held until he retired in August 2015. He has also served as the Dean of Continuing Education at Sumter Area Technical College in Sumter SC. And he was the President and CEO of Robert Wood and Associates, Inc., a South Carolina, and Florida based holding company that had ownership in the following companies: RWA Computer and Training Services, Kenwood Transportation Services, Kenwood Trucking, KPJ Leasing and Canaveral Truck and Bus Repairs.

He is a former Rotary President in South Carolina, a Paul Harris Fellow, and a Benefactor.

He has been married to his wife Diane for 52 years and has three grown children and two grandchildren.
